INVEST IN THE BEST WE HAVE
Founded in 1920 by William J Leech the company has come such a long way since the days when they were producing tarpaulin covers for Barges operating along the Liverpool to Leeds boat canals.
The photo opposite is William J Leech himself, and it is believed that the photo was taken on the Cutty Sark but the date is not known.
The photographs below are some of the earliest images from 1920 of tarpaulin covers being made for the barges in the very first factory, these are the only surviving photographs.
The business grew from strength to strength diversifying into other markets such as Agriculture then into
Road Transport as more and more goods were being moved by road instead of the canals but continued to produce products for all three industries and still do to this day.
W.J. Leech & Sons Today
Today is a different story from the 1920s, after several factory moves due to increased demand and being one of the UK’s leading manufacturers and suppliers of tensioned curtains for the Road Transport Industry, we continue to invest, as more and more technology becomes available to improve our manufacturing processes.
Digital imaging is becoming more in demand. Large and Small businesses, PLCs, Super Market Chains and Transport Companies are becoming more image conscious than ever before, recognising the potential advertising space available on vehicles and trailers. To meet the new marketing strategy being adopted by these companies we have invested in the most up to date digital printing equipment available on the market today, together with the latest computer software we can produce and manipulate most images to suit our customer’s needs, ensuring we stay at the forefront of our industry.
Below is what W J Leech & Sons Ltd can produce with the technology available and further investment planned to increase production to meet the demands for our quality products along with diversification into other markets

PVC Partitioning is the perfect and most cost effective solution for segregating and dividing areas in workshop’s and Warehouse’s, as opposed to the conventional building methods, Saving time and money.
These can be produced in various colours and if required Flame Retardant.
This partition is in five sections covering the length of the workshop approx. 40mts long.
It has been designed and digitally printed by our in house graphics team where the customer took advantage of the space to remind everyone of the commitment to Health and Safety, and the importance of wearing PPE equipment.
Windows were also fitted for visual and staff safety reasons.
What you see here is a PVC curtain digitally printed to look like a section of breeze block walling and upper cladding, It has been outlined to make clear which is the PVC Partitioning as it looks like the real thing.
We were asked the question by the customer “can you make it to match the existing wall height” think we did a pretty good job in meeting that brief.
